VILLA HELLENA

Numismatics

The numismatic and notaphilic collection illustrates monetary circulation in the territory of the Municipality of Opovo and its surroundings, from antiquity to the present day. It includes coins from late antiquity, the medieval and early modern periods, as well as 20th-century currency, including paper money, decorations, and medals.

The collection features Roman coins from late antiquity, medieval Byzantine and Hungarian currency, as well as early modern issues from the Ottoman Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. A distinct segment includes items from the Kingdom of Serbia, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, followed by currency from the period of German occupation, socialist Yugoslavia, and the hyperinflation era of the 1990s.

All items originate from local finds and donations by collectors, ensuring the authenticity and clearly defined local context of the material.
