VILLA HELLENA

Applied Art

The applied art collection includes valuable examples of furniture, textiles, porcelain, glass, and decorative objects dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Most items originate from the territory of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and reflect the aesthetic and functional characteristics of bourgeois interiors of the period.

The collection features salon furniture, items produced in the Thonet tradition, as well as various Art Nouveau decorative elements. It also includes porcelain sets, glass display cases, and other functional objects that illustrate domestic culture and everyday life.

The items were acquired in major regional urban centers such as Novi Sad, Subotica, Belgrade, Kula, and Zemun, while a portion comes from donations by local collectors. The collection is intended for permanent display in Villa “Helena” and serves both educational and promotional purposes, presenting the development of artistic and material culture in the region of AP Vojvodina.
